Articulograph AG200 programs
The program art consists of three parts with the following main functions.
The operating program is written in Borland Pascal and Assembler. The source code of the main program and the most important sub-programs is included in the contents of delivery, so the program can be modified and supplemented by the user.
Using the MKal32 or MKal64 unit with it, this program performs extended calibration. It also carries out the sensor calibration just as the art program does.
The Windows display option with the MKal program, however, makes it easier and more exact. The MKal32 and MKal64 are mechanical devices that enables one to measure the signals from the Articulograph AG100 in 72 different positions in the measuring area.
The MKal program is necessary in order to use these devices and handle the measured data. It finally produces the look up tables to be used by the art program.
With the help of the calibrated data, the distance calculations for recording the movement data by the art.exe program are optimized.
This program is used to perform the extended calibration, the sensor calibration and the accuracy measuring automatically with the ACU-H3 unit.
The signals of different positions in the measuring area can be measured and recorded. Because of the mechanical construction of the AutoKal Unit, the distances of the sensor and transmitters for each measured signal value are known by the program.
The exact distance that belongs to each signal value, for all (15 - 45) sensor-transmitter coil combinations is determined with the evaluated calibration data. The result is 15 - 45 exponents. The radius tables are calculated in the last stage of the program with this data.
The result of the extended calibration is shown as a table of exponents (powers) of the distance function.
The exponents of all not selected channels are set to zero. The means of the exponents of the chin-, forehead- and neck distance functions are shown in the lower right part of the table.
The purpose of this function is to find the exact signal of the sensor, when it is in the centre of the measuring area and adjusted parallel to the transmitter coils. Manual adjustments are not necessary as the rotation angles are calculated automatically by the AutoKal unit. The adjustment element slides back and forth in Z direction one time for each sensor, carrying out individual measurements along the way. The calibration is then determined using all the measurement results.
The results of the complete AutoKal calibration are saved as 15 - 45 tables into a file on disk. These tables show the distance of each sensor from the transmitter coils for each signal. This distance makes the calculation of the position possible.
The control of the adjustment element is carried out independently by the AutoKal in a normal program run. The unit can be adjusted by hand in other exceptional cases, like during installation. The dialogue box contains 4 fields next to each other, each with the use elements for a single axis.
The analysis and documentation program can be used to visualize the measurement data in various kinds of diagrams. The optionally recorded audio data can be examined for comparison with the graphic analysis of the measurement positions. The program can represent the sequence of movements in real time or display single measuring positions for more exact examination. Data for statistical analysis can be transferred into separate data files.
Emalyse is a Windows program for simultaneous display of movement and acoustic data from the Articulograph AG100. It enables swift determination of specific time points of interest in the measured data.
It features synchronised movement of the cursor in all windows. Thanks to the simultaneous graphical and numeric display of position, velocity, acceleration and acoustic data it is a simple matter to consistently locate typical configurations in the speech movement trajectories.
The cursor can be placed through the display at actual or half speed and allows a precise selection of any time point with the mouse.

This Windows program processes the accuracy measurement data recorded by the AutoKal program and the AutoKal unit. It is also possible to check movements outside of the measurement plane and with rotated sensors.
